Biography
My musical journey began at the age of 8 when I picked up my father’s trumpet for the first time. I sat down at a piano shortly after and started learning and writing my own melodies. Formal lessons were insisted upon by my parents, and I continued to learn, write, and perform throughout college. At WWU, I learned much about performance and composition, joining the Electro-Acoustic Composer’s, concert, jazz, and madrigal choirs, and student-conducting the Women’s and Men’s choirs my senior year.
Things tapered off after that, when I discovered how incredibly difficult it is to make a living as a musician and artist; so I buckled down and got a “real job.” However, in June of 2007, I finally broke into the industry as a lead sound designer and composer for Iron Lore Entertainment. The last title we completed was Dawn of War: Soulstorm, an expansion to the Warhammer 40k series, which should be released sometime in 2008. This was a great first project for me, as it did not throw me into the deep end of the industry head-first, and instead gave me a short-term easy project to get acquainted with the expectations and deadlines set before me. I now have experience with sound creation, cinematic sound creation and mastering, mixing full-game projects, working with design ideas, learning new tools without help or documentation, and leading multiple people in the design process.
Currently, I am writing and recording my first album attempt myself. I don’t expect big things from it, but it sure is fun to do. I hope that as I complete songs, I’ll get great feedback and constructive criticism from everyone here. Best wishes to everyone! Cheers!
